By personality tests. By star signs. By people who knew you for an afternoon. Most of these descriptions are flattering, vague, and forgettable — they fit you the way a coat fits everyone in the room.
A serious BaZi reading does not flatter. It identifies the specific structural pressures of a single life — the ones that have shaped your decisions for thirty years and will keep shaping them — and makes them visible.
Some readers find that uncomfortable. Most find it, eventually, a relief.

The System体系
What BaZi is, and what it is not.八字是什么,不是什么。
BaZi (八字, "Eight Characters") is a fifteen-hundred-year-old Chinese system of time, refined across the Tang and Song dynasties. It uses the four pillars of a person's birth — year, month, day, and hour — to describe the energetic constitution they were issued, and the long seasons of weather that will pass over that constitution across a lifetime.
It is not divination. It does not predict events. It does not tell you whom to marry or when you will die. What it offers is a structural portrait — a way of seeing why certain environments deplete you while others restore you, why certain difficulties keep finding you in different costumes, and which of your qualities are durable rather than borrowed.
Where Western astrology asks "what does the sky look like at the moment of your birth?", BaZi asks "what kind of energetic weather were you born into, and how will it change?" It is closer in spirit to a constitutional medicine, or a long-form psychological assessment, than to a horoscope.
Aquifer takes this fifteen-century-old system and writes it for a contemporary reader — without losing the depth of its original tradition, and without the new-age dilutions it has acquired in transit.

The Method方法

Each reading is generated through a custom system that combines:每一份解读由一套定制系统生成,融合:
- Classical sources, including 滴天髓, 穷通宝鉴, 子平真诠, and 三命通会 — the foundational texts of Ziping-school BaZi.
- Contemporary writing standards, modeled after long-form psychological assessment and serious editorial prose.
- Strict refusal of cold-reading. Every claim in your report must trace back to a specific feature of your chart. Sentences that "could apply to anyone" are not allowed.
- A bilingual structure: each reading exists in both English and Chinese, with terms preserved in their original Romanization (the Forge, qī shā · 七杀; the Hidden Mentor, piān yìn · 偏印; the Wealth-Flame, piān cái · 偏财).
- 经典源头:《滴天髓》《穷通宝鉴》《子平真诠》《三命通会》——子平派八字的根基文本。
- 当代写作标准:参照长篇心理学评估与严肃编辑稿件。
- 严格拒绝冷读法。报告里的每一个论断都必须可溯源到你命盘的某一个具体特征。“放在谁身上都成立”的句子不被允许出现。

- Do I need to know my exact birth time?我需要知道精确的出生时间吗?
- Yes. The hour pillar is one of the four, and it determines the entire architecture of the reading. If you only know the rough time of day ("morning" / "evening"), please mention this when submitting — your reading will note the uncertainty and offer the most defensible interpretation, but a precise time is strongly preferred.是的。时柱是四柱之一,它决定整份解读的骨架。如果你只知道大致时辰("上午"/"晚上"),请在提交时注明——你的解读会标注这层不确定性并给出最稳妥的解读路径,但精确时间会带来明显更好的结果。
